Algarve,
Portugal, August 2007
During summer 2007 Claudia
and I spent two weeks down in the southwestern tip of Europe. Since the
Algarve coast faces the Atlantic Ocean the water tends to be fresher
than in the Mediterranean. However, the coastline is said to be the most
beautiful in Europe. Bizarre rock formations and nice sandy beaches form
a great landscape. During high season the most popular beaches of the
Algrave are usually packed full of tourists. Nevertheless, outside the
tourist hubs you will always find a quiet beach to relax. That's why we
made sure to have a rental car to reach even the remotest patch of sand.
We mostly spent the evenings in the fishing village Albufeira and
picturesque Lagos.
