Bolivia

In Bolivia the Andes range reaches its maximum width of 600 km (370 mi). The mountains rise from the Pacific coast of Chile towards the border with Bolivia where the summits reach heights of up to 6500 m (21300 ft). Behind the border follows the Bolivian highland on an average elevation of 4000 m (13000 ft). Towards the east the range drops away in steep slopes down into the plains and rainforest of the Amazon.

La Paz

The city was built by the Spaniards in a canyon at the east side of the Andes range on an altitude between  3600 m (11800 ft) and 4100 m (13400 ft).
